OUR
MISSION:
Our mission is
to provide campers with a safe, fun, exciting environment in which to learn
theater skills. We provide the highest quality theater education while
encouraging students to hone their unique talents, to develop their
confidence and to discover the joy of being on stage. Each student is given
the opportunity to shine in his/her own way. The professional child will be
given invaluable tools to help move ahead on a career path.
ABOUT KIDS ON STAGE-A SUMMER OF STARS! : Ages 9-15
Spend your summer in the spotlight! Our five week Musical Theater Intensive will give campers the chance to perform in a Musical Show while immersing themselves in the rehearsal and production process. No audition is required for entrance into this program and show will be chosen based on number of campers involved. Enrollment is limited to 20 performers. Danielle Aldrich directs!.
WHAT DO WE DO EACH DAY? Mornings will consist of building skills essential for performance: focusing on acting technique, voice and speech, dance and choreography. Afternoons will be for rehearsing the show: providing an outlet to apply the skills you are learning. Week one will include casting of roles!
ABOUT THE TWEEN SPECIALTY CAMPS: Ages 9 - 12
WEEK 1: IMPROV COMEDY: Give your imagination a blast of spontaneity! Learn the basic rules of improvisational comedy and then put them to use playing performance games (similar to "Whose Line Is It Anyway?")
WEEK 2: DANCE FOR THE THEATER: Learn to become more comfortable with dance and movement. This course combines the traditional styles of jazz, ballet and tap into a fun blend of "Broadway" style dance. You will learn techniques, steps and combinations commonly used in musical theater dance. At the end of the course, we will have an informal performance-an "informance"-where you can share the combinations you have learned.
WEEK 3:
ACTING INTENSIVE: Through the use of
monologues and scene work, students work on gaining and deepening their acting
skills. Focus will be on the use of given circumstances, playing
objectives, using conflicts and obstacles and identifying the needs of a
character.
WEEK 3:
ACTING INTENSIVE - LEVEL II: In this level
characters and relationships are explored on a deeper level. Students discover
how action and behavior shape characterization. Students continue to track
their character's journey through scenes and / or monologues; articulating
the essential elements of building a character, playing objectives, fighting
through obstacles and trying to resolve the conflict in the scene.
Prerequisite: Successful completion of Level I or similar training
WEEK 4:
ACTING FOR FILM & TELEVISION:
This on camera course will
teach students how to approach written material for TV and Film, exploring
choice, size and physicality in front of the camera. Learn the differences
between reading stage scenes and film scripts. Auditioning for the camera will
also be covered.
WEEK 5:
MUSICAL THEATER: Here the performance elements
of musical theater are examined. Through the use of group numbers, duets
or solos and scenes, students work on their vocal skills while learning how to
act through a song.
WEEK 5:
MUSICAL THEATER - LEVEL II:
This level is designed to develop the
TOTAL performer! Skills in vocal technique, acting and musical staging
will be emphasized. Group numbers, duets and solos from popular musical
theater will be used to teach a core vocal technique. Scenes from musicals
will be used to tell the story of the character. Prerequisite:
