Teen/Tween Acting 101 Class (Grades 6 - 12)

Discover the actor in you! Students learn the fundamentals of acting in a fun, supportive and creative atmosphere. Through theatre games and improvisation, students concentrate on the basics of acting: the who, where, why and how. Students will then apply these concepts to basic scene work. The last session includes an open class for family and friends.

This on-camera course will teach students about the TV commercial and the TV / film industry. By working on camera each week, students will learn how to prepare for the commercial audition and how to approach written material for TV and Film (while also exploring choice, size and physicality in front of the camera). Prerequisite: Enrollment in or completion of Teen Acting I (or an equivalent).

Tween/Teen Acting Advanced Acting (Grades 6 - 12)

In this class, we explore characters and relationships on a deeper level. Students discover how action and behavior shape characterization. They continue to track their character's journey through scenes and monologues; articulating the essential elements of building a character, playing objectives, fighting through obstacles and trying to resolve the conflict in the scene. The instructors cater to the strength of each student as they focus on individualized advanced work.The session culminates in a final open class. Prerequisite: Successful completion of Level 1 or by interview and audition. or by interview and audition..

By using group numbers and solos, students will learn about vocal technique, proper breathing, diction, projection, the basics of reading music and best of all, the joy of singing! At the same time, students will be introduced to acting through a song" by exploring and interpreting the lyrics of the song. The last session will be an open class for family and friends.

Work can include monologues, scene study, acting exercises or other projects of the instructor's choosing.

Perform a Play! During this two-week play production camp, students recieve a script, rehearse a production, and perform their play in the big theatre! Have a blast working on a full length comedy one-act. Students will act, create costumes and set, and tell the story. Everyone will have a showcase part! No audition is required for this camp. Performance on Thursday Aug. 16th

A fun way to put to use what you just learned in the Intro to Improv class! The camp starts off with games and exercises reviewing the basics of improvisation, then the students dive into developing performance pieces for a final showcase! Using exciting short-form improv games, the group will rehearse together as a troupe and the camp will finish with a special live improv show on Thursday Aug. 17th (similar to the TV show "Whose Line is it Anyway"), in the big theatre for an audience of invited parents and guests!

Each semester ends in a final informal performance open to family and friends.

Broadway Juniors (Grades K - 2)

Using familiar songs and scenes from classic Broadway shows and films such as The Music Man, The Wizard of Oz and Suessical, students will learn the basics of musical theater performance. Vocal technique, beginning acting skills and basic choreography will be developed as students "put it all together" in this fun-filled class. The last session includes a final informal performance.

Storytime Theater (Grades 1-2)

The first step to understanding what acting is all about! In this fun and supportive virtual class, children use theatre games, storytelling and role-playing to stretch their imaginations and discover the endless creativity in themselves. Each semester ends in a final informal zoom performance open to family and friends.

Young Actors Workshop (Gr 3 -5)

Kids learn the fundamentals of acting in a fun, supportive and creative atmosphere. Through theatre games and improvisation, students concentrate on the basics of acting: the who, where, why and how. Students will then apply these concepts to basic scene work. The last session includes an open class for family and friends.

Improv for Kids (Grades 3 - 5)

Give your imagination a blast of spontaneity! Improvisation works to increase a child's observation and concentration skills while freeing their imaginations! Students will learn the basic rules of improvisation and then put them to use playing performance games. A fun, fast paced, funny class!basic choreography will be developed as students "put it all together" in this fun-filled class. The last session includes a final informal performance.

Musical Theater for Kids (Grades 3 - 5)

*NEW* Drama Club Kids

Drama Club (everyone’s favorite club!) is perfect way to socialize, build community, and create! Drama Club is a virtual after-school extra-curricular activity where club members will spend the semester in “play practice” getting ready to put on a show. Club members will enjoy club activities, theater games, process-oriented rehearsals, and performance of a scripted play. Drama Club members will learn the basics of stage work, self discipline, importance of hard work, creativity, listening and observation skills, and self confidence. AND they will have a social experience with club members who share their same performance passion. Drama Club is a great addition for Pandemic Pods and Home-School groups. It is produced by 3-time Excellence in Education Tony Honoree, Beth Baur. Ms. Baur is a certified K-12 Public School Theater Teacher. Drama Club is available and can be modified for individual groups.

Musical Theatre 1

In this fun, non-competitive class, students are introduced to the most important element of Musical Theater: the Voice! By using group numbers and solos, students will learn about vocal technique, proper breathing, diction, projection, the basics of reading music and best of all, the joy of singing! At the same time, students will be introduced to acting through a song" by exploring and interpreting the lyrics of the song.

Musical Theatre 2

Students will continue to develop vocal skills and further develop the technique of acting through a song by exploring and interpreting the lyrics of the song. Group numbers, duets and solos will be used. As always, instructors encourage the unique abilities of each student.

Prerequisite: Successful completion of Level 1 or by permission of instructor.

Teen & Tween
Acting for Film & TV

This on camera course will teach students about the TV commercial and the TV / film industry. By working on camera each week, students will learn how to prepare for the commercial audition and how to approach written material for TV and Film (while also exploring choice, size and physicality in front of the camera).

Prerequisite: Enrollment in or completion of Teen Acting I (or an equivalent).

Teen & Tween Acting Level 1

This level is for students entering our program for the first time. The class emphasizes the development of a strong acting technique through the use of theater games, improvisation and scripted material. Students learn how to answer the questions all actors must ask in order to successfully approach a script: Who? Where? What? Why? How? Exploration of the actor's physical resources of voice and movement will also be used.

Teen & Tween Acting Level 2

In this level we explore characters and relationships on a deeper level. Students discover how action and behavior shape characterization. They continue to track their character's journey through scenes and monologues; articulating the essential elements of building a character, playing objectives, fighting through obstacles and trying to resolve the conflict in the scene. As always, instructors continue to encourage the unique creativity of each student. Please Note: Most students are required to complete two semesters of Level 2 before moving onto Level 3.

Prerequisite: Successful completion of Level 1 or by interview and audition.

Level 3: The Master Class

Level 3 students will continue to hone their acting technique by working on material individualized for their specific growth. Work can include monologues, scene study, acting exercises or other projects of the instructor's choosing. Continued development of the actor's physical resources will be included.

Prerequisite: Completion of two semesters of Level 2 AND permission of a director. Students entering our program for the first time must audition for placement in this program.

Young Actors Workshop Camp
(Grades 3-5)

Kids learn the fundamentals of acting in a fun, supportive and creative atmosphere. Through theatre games and improvisation, students concentrate on the basics of acting: the who, where, why and how. Students will then apply these concepts to basic scene work. The last session includes an open class for family and friends.

Tween/ Teen Acting Camp

Spend your week with like-minded and ambitious young actors as you explore and deepen your acting technique. Using fun theater games, acting exercises, and performance skills, students will rehearse and perform scenes from contemporary plays. You will be taught the same proven technique used in our Adult acting classes. Have a blast and grow.

Young Actors Workshop Performance Camp

In this highly creative performance camp, students will perform sketch comedy skits and funny bits using the short plays.
